Is the NHL back?

I like most true notherners am ready to see the NHL back in action. Although I think that the players may be crying about making more money then I will probably make in a life time I still enjoy watching a good game. Plus we need more then just the NBA to watch all winter.

My proposal for the NHL is to dump all of the southern teams. Come on be honest, do you really think that anyone in Georgia, Tennesse, Florida, Texas, and Pheonix knows what hockey is? On top of that would they care even if they did know? Southern hockey is like someone from the Midwest trying to figure out why anyone would want to live in a place that doesn't have real grass and tall trees. Just doesn't make sense.

Personally I think that the only way the season after Tampa Bay won the cup could have gone is with a lockout. This question was posed by many during the playoffs. Which win would benefit the NHL more, a Calgary or Tampa Bay? History has recorded the Tampa Bay win and we have all seen how things have gone from there. But then again any true hockey fan could have told you that game one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

I want the NHL back. Can't wait to see the first puck drop, immediately after that is the first glove to drop. Come on you know that you watch the Wings and the Avs games for the same reason I do.

Not a past or even future star. Just a true hockey fan.

I love hockey!!! they need to get it started again, however I could live on Basketball all Winter. Go Pistons!! (Ric Hamilton).

A Philly chic rooting for the Pistons, good choice.

Being from WI we don't really have a NBA team. I am a Pistons fan also. I think playing the Bucks is like playing the practice squad in front of a large crowd.

Which team holds your NHL allegiance?

Go Wings!

Well I'll have to admit I am not a huge hockey fan, so I really don't have a favorite, but I love going to games and I used to play ice hockey myself. I also have to admit I am a "closet Indiana Pacers, Reggie Miller" fan. lol

i do agree that the NHL should eliminate a few teams down south. it is sad to think that "The State of Hockey" went 7 seasons w/o a professional team. and the only reason for that was because the owner, Norm Green, decided to move the team to Dallas.

the NHL has never been the marketing draw that football, baseball, or basketball are. and with all of the expansion hockey teams the NHL was trying to capture more markets to make more money. so they did the dumbest thing ever... they moved teams out of Canada and created new teams in California.

the only team that moved and still did well were the Quebec Nordiques/ Colorado Avalanche. The season after the team was moved to CO they won the Stanley Cup. either it was a good move or bad timing for the Nordique fans.

as far as where my alliance falls, i would have to say the Minnesota Wild. i will be the first to say that they are not always the most exciting team to watch for the casual hockey fan (they tend to play a very defensive style).

Defense definitely wins games. The Wings are definitely going to have to learn how to play some "boring" hockey this season. Couldn't keep that dynasty together forever. Should be an interesting season.

My preseason perdiction is that your Wild will do better then my Wings this season. Guess I will just have to make it down to the cities to catch a Wild game with you and the crew this season.

B knows what he is talking about. I learned the game from he and Big Pappa P. Thanks B.

Danielle-
Reggie Miller is one of the biggest babies in the NBA. Come on how about throwing some love to one of the Wallaces.

Yeah bt you have to admit he is alsl one of the most consistent shooters in the league. And he has a hell of a 3-point shot.

I am with you on supporting Big Ben. I am not feeling Rasheed either. Reggie is definitely one of the best. But at some point he should start acting like a leader and starting with helping to keep his teammate Ron out of trouble.

I can't get down with the old Charles Barkley, "I am not a role model" attitude.

Good luck in Pheonix. At least you aren't the only Midwesterner down there. Say hi to Julie for me. Maybe Beth and I will come down to catch a Coyotes game with you, Julie, and JB.
